I am working on a Robe à l'Anglaise for an upper middle class women and was wondering what size pocket hoops would be appropriate? Also for a simple day dress that would worn around camp, would hip pads be worn or just a petticoat? Thank you so much!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04630012549366089458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5037310525534308232.post-30939689296000160122014-11-03T04:01:29.299-08:002014-11-03T04:01:29.299-08:00Dear "An Historical Lady", while you hav...Dear "An Historical Lady", while you have been rolling your eyes and giggling behind your fan, we've spent the last 10 plus years doing primary source research and sharing it with the reenactment community.

In a few weeks we'll be announcing our line up for the 2015 Hive season. If you are not familiar with the Hive, it is a series of free workshops and clinics that run in partnership with Minute Man National Historic Park. This all-volunteer effort has received national recognition and year after year has helped numerous reenactors raise the accuracy of their impressions.

We've also been able to share our research on this blog, our Facebook page, as well as at our workshops that we run throughout the Northeast. In addition, we work with sites like Minute Man and Old Sturbridge Village to develop authenticity guidelines in order to improve the overall quality of their living history events.

In addition, we have been bringing to the marketplace a line of patterns based on original garments with 18th century construction and hand sewing techniques. This new approach to historical patterns has been well received by both costumers and reenactors, indicating a desire for more accuracy and correct construction.

So, we've been busy making a difference and frankly we don't often take the time to toot our own horn about what we have accomplished. Thank your for the opportunity to take stock of what we've been able to bring to the community. I'm sorry that you see no value to it, but then again it's much easier to giggle, roll your eyes and throw stones, than to roll up your sleeves and do the work. The Hivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02396635063389246387noreply@blogger.com
